The Mayor's Garden

Even there’s only a small chance to be bored with the Grand Place, I sometimes need a new place to get away. A place which more tranquil and serene to sit around and relax for a while.

Le Jardin du Maïeur (The Mayor’s Garden) is one of the option.

The Battle of Mons, Hôtel de Ville entrance

Located in the inner courtyard of the Hôtel de Ville, some called this place as off the beaten path. It’s a perfect quiet place in the center of Mons.
Just within a short walk from the Grand Place through a tunnel around the Hôtel de Ville, and there it is.

The garden is not big and not much to offer. In spring and summer of course the best time to be here because of the colorful flowers. But the attraction is fountain of ‘Ropieur'—a boy who teased by spitting water to people.

This garden also connects to some museums, but I haven't really check them out.
