Christmas Market in Mons, "Cœur en Neige"

One thing I really like about Christmas in Europe is the charming traditional Christmas market. As the holiday season approaching, it's time to take a stroll along the town center in search of gifts and Christmas trinkets. Or just mingle and soak in to that Christmas atmosphere.

We've been to few Christmas markets in Europe, all different and special.
I'm so happy our town has one beautiful Christmas market, just like a Christmas dream come true.

Even it's not the most original, but the one we have in Mons said to be one of the most beautiful in Belgium.
Located at the Grand Place, it usually starts few days after the Autumn Fair ends, on early December until New Year's.

The giant Christmas tree in the middle of the Grand Place looks striking and illuminating. There's an ice rink surrounded by pretty wooden chalets decorated with greenery and lights. Artisans dress up like elves and offered the region's crafts and specialties. A beautiful Ice Queen walking on stilts accompanied by fairies to welcome everyone. It's like in the middle of a Christmas village in fairy tale.

If it gets colder, don't forget to grab a cup of the traditional mulled wine and hot chestnuts in one of the chalets. There are also free biscuits, bonbons and soup all day to keep everyone warm and happy.
