La Ville en Jeu(x)

The whole town is playing games on the long weekend of May 14-23, 2015.
There were 2 km of dominoes on the opening day. Too bad couldn’t see it because we’re on holiday and only got to see the last day of the event.

Red Ball

After Abu Dhabi, Taipei, Barcelona, Lausanne, London, Sydney, Chicago, Toronto and Paris, New York visual artist Kurt Perschke moved to Mons for 10 days where each day a huge red ball gets caught between buildings in different locations. It’s like a big clown nose interfering in our daily urban life.

Street Walker

The Street Walker transformed the town into a ready-made art gallery. Using everyday elements of the town and turning them into works of art, this way, lights, traffic signs, cracked walls, found objects, interesting views etc become part of the (street-) gallery.

Le Gens de Couleur
For the first time in Belgium, ‘the people of color’ wander through the town. A color per person: turquoise, bright red, apple green, lemon yellow, fuschia ... They are coated with a second skin vivid, brilliant, giving them sculptures-like images. People stop, the cars stop, architecture turns gray and bare.

Le Camp
"The Camp" is a 40m2 city in nature, without advertising, no music, no asphalt, no smartphone. A place to unload material constraints, stress and modern contamination. Imagine the pleasure to leave behind objects and useless thoughts. To find prehistoric man, he who loved naked, without electricity or vacuum cleaner. Under the growing ecological threat, can we still desire the latest technological gadget without feeling guilty?
