On
September 17-18, 2016 celebrating Fête de Wallonie, Grand Place and Marché aux Herbes invaded by gourmet food trucks.
Well, of course it’s not as big as the one
in Brussels that we went to in May (it broke the record as the largest food trucks gathering
in Europe/ world).
As the 4th stop of the event,
there were around 20 establishments participated. Armenian, Lebanese even Thai
food. The rest mostly sell burgers and pasta.
It took a while for me to
decide. Not because I wanted them all, they just didn’t invite
my appetite instantly. I noticed only one truck from Brussels.. my favorite, the famous
Cantina Mexicana. But this time I wanted to try something different.
The aero-man tried a Space Frontier beer
which he described as ‘normal’ yet expensive (for 5 EUR he’s probably expecting
an out of this world experience). But the striking yellow beer bus along with
the metallic Food Metal Jacket were the most interesting vehicles.
I finally picked up a Souvlaki sold by two gorgeous ladies. Before my mind flew to Santorini and enjoying
last days of summer, this one and only specialty from a classic Piaggio van woke
me. The soft wrap, the grilled chicken was so tasty also well marinated and the
tzatziki tasted so fresh. The price even slightly cheaper than others. It’s a
winner!
