Sushi à la vie

Another Japanese restaurant around town center.
Yay!

I’ve been eyeing this place near one of the corner of Marché aux Herbes for a while. Until one rainy Thursday (September 28, 2017).. I thought having a bowl of ramen which was newly added on the menu was going to be so comforting.

The waiter was very friendly. He said it was opened about 6 month ago. It looks new. Nice and sleek. There was a woman waiting for her takeaway and 3 person/ 2 other tables at that moment, but they were just about to leave and finished their meals. Then I was alone.

Actually when I first noticed this place, I had a second thought.
Honestly, the menu didn’t look that tempting and more like a Japanese fusion food.
That’s why I wasn’t excited to even ask the former Japan inhabitant (aka Prince Charming) to join me.

Maki salmon (4.80EUR/ 6pc) was small and easily gone within a minute or two. The size and taste similar to the one I bought at nearby supermarket but this one is more expensive.
Onnnamai ramen with side gyoza (14.50EUR/ 3pc). This formula is not as expensive as in Brussels.

Let start with the gyoza. I guess they managed to make the wrapper and filling, instead of using frozen product. It’s crunchy. Too crunchy. For me, more like a wonton than a gyoza. But filling is good and tasty.
When the ramen came, it looked good. The soup made out from spicy pork broth. Accompanied by boiled egg, vegetables (snow pea, sweet corn, bean sprouts), narutomaki, chashu, pickled ginger, sesame seeds and scallion. Also found few peanuts which kinda weird.

Overall, the taste was not amazingly special. Though it was a bit lack of flavor. But the chashu (only 2 pork slices) really succulent and melted in my mouth.
I’m happy and full!
