April
5-27, 2019
The
spring festival started with Rallye des Œufs, similar to an egg hunt on April
6, 2019.
There
were six eggs scattered around the center of Mons.
I
already had the map from Visit Mons office a week earlier, but couldn’t really
figured out how to find the eggs or how they looked like. On the map, we needed
to follow colored route for each egg, then wrote down names of the eggs.
Completed form had to be given to Madame et Monsieur Karot the rabbits, 2-6 pm
at Place du Marché aux Herbes where gifts awaited
(chocolates to the grand prize of Nintendo Switch).
Lots
of things going on (especially for kids) during the day, from decorating
chocolate eggs, free popcorn, magic show and little farm.
The
ferris wheel at the Grand Place wasn’t as busy as I expected it would be, even
some of the pods were empty. Paid
5EUR/ person (access from April 6-22, 2019; 2-10 pm on
weekedays/ 11 am – 11 pm on weekends and during Easter holiday).
The line was short but had to wait around 20
minutes and got a private compartment with Prince Charming.
The view was basically similar compared to what I
saw from the Belfry and its park.
While we’re up, there were parade of
characters from the Festival Trolls & Légendes (someone was excited if he could meet Kevin
Sorbo, this year’s guest of honor – as we grew up watching Hercules on tv).
It’s
been one of the most interesting yet beautiful spring events in Mons.
