First time I came here was five days after opening on February 26, 2019.
I was intrigued to see a girl with a pretty cupcake in a clear plastic box when walked around Marché aux Herbes, not far from this shop.
It looked instagrammable, inspired by Alice in Wonderland.
I bought a chocolate hazelnut cupcake to take
away for 3EUR (+ about 50 cents to eat in).
It’s a bit dry on top but soft and moist
inside. No particular taste or aroma not even sweet or nutty or chocolatey. The
frosting was better. It supposed to taste like Kinder Bueno, but the only
reminder was the chunk on top of the cupcake.
Two
months later I gave it a second try with Prince Charming.
It
was Easter weekend and the place looked busy around 3 pm. We needed to wait for
a while to get a table outdoor to enjoy warm and sunny spring.
The waiter took order using a smartphone (no idea if it’s connected to the kitchen or cashier).
Then came the wait.
I would say, service was slow.
Two at the counter to get
orders (and personalization cake order using a tablet), while others in the
kitchen.
When I walked inside and heard the sound of blender from the kitchen,
I knew they were working on our drinks and somehow I could already sense it won’t be good.
My
Oreo Frappé (3.70EUR/ small) came with his Freaky Shake (5.20EUR/ small).
They were watery. Not milky. Or slushy. Nothing special. Another disappointment
was the cupcake. Alice (3.70EUR), I know you’re trying to be pretty, with all those sprinkles,
confetti, m&m’s Easter eggs and coulis. But too dry so it ruined my
mood. Frosting and coulis were actually good, with fresh raspberry inside the bottom
of the cake.
Came back early December 2019 in the afternoon for an ‘emergency’
cupcake and checked out the tea room upstairs.
