Prince
Charming was actually wanted to eat at this place long before this French fast
food chain was coming to Mons (it was a Tapas bar back then).
Then
when some Dutch friends came visiting and laughed to the sign, I was intrigued
with the words:
Original – french - tacos
With the O’ – like an Irish name
Seriously?
Then
I finally had lunch at O’Tacos on November 7, 2017.
It
was packed with students but I had no problem finding a table.
For a fast food chain, this place looked nice and clean.
The
formula was easy yet interesting.
Step
1: Choose the size of the taco (I chose the smallest one, M and it’s 5 EUR)
Step
2: Meat options (I went for nugget)
Step
3: Sauce selections (I opt for chipotle.. just because I miss Chipotle, the fast
food chain)
I
skipped to put some extras (ex: cheese, egg, salami etc) because on the last
step this taco would also be filled with cheesy fries.
Then
the cashier handed a “bipper” while waiting for my order.
Looked
like a big yoyo without string.
It
took me few minutes to learn how it works.
Simply
when our order is ready, this gadget would bip, blink and vibrate.
It
turned out the size M is quite big for a size XS.. me.
But
was pretty amazed how they grilled for finishing touch and the wrap looked neat
as well.
My
first bite was a burst of flavors and textures.. from the chipotle and cheesy
sauces to the crunchy nugget and soft fries.
It’s
warm, melty and messy. And somehow, it’s kinda comforting (isn’t it a bit
unusual to say for a fast food menu?). Maybe because this morning was so cold
(dropped to -2 C, in autumn!) and having this surprisingly good taco seemed to make my day.
Next
time I would go back only for the cheesy fries!
